Island Birthday Cake

Sammie had her birthday, and it turned into a challenge of a day, with all her choices and plans being unable to be carried out due to the weather on the day.

I had to extend myself to do her cake this year as I had just a picture she had drawn to go by. She wanted an Island. It had to be transportable, and be able to take a bit of heat without the icing melting as it would spend a bit of time in the car.

So to get the desired look, the base was made out of different sized cupcakes

The icing was italian, butter cream, which I have never made before, but it seemed to work out well. The trees were quite a challenge and took some research to come up with dipping them in chocolate and then coloured rice bubbles.

I made some piping gel to go over the water and lava, which gave a nice shiny irridescent look.

Over all we were all pretty happy with the way the whole thing turned out.
